A very close game took place in New Plymouth between Mountain Airs and Sharks. Mountain Airs (3-2) got a very close home victory over Sharks (2-2). Mountain Airs managed to escape with a 3-point win 64-61 on Friday evening. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 22-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Kenyan forward Tylor Ongwae (199-91, college: La-Monroe) who scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Houston ORiley (180-89) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Mountain Airs' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Australian power forward Nick Kay (206-92, college: Metro St.) who recorded 7 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Australian guard Mitch Norton (184-93) added 12 points respectively. Mountain Airs will meet at home Saints in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sharks will play against Rangers (#2) and hope to secure a win.
