Regular Season Round 25: Distrito Olimpico - Rivas Promete 67-61

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Rivas Promete's (14-11) road loss to fifth ranked Distrito Olimpico (16-9) 61-67 on Saturday. Rivas Promete was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Rivas Promete 53-28 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Daira Varas (193-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 20 rebounds for the winners and swingman Maria Bolonio (180-85) chipped in 9 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side forward Paula Ginzo (187-98) responded with 16 points and swingman Susana Bacete (179-93) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Distrito Olimpico. They maintain fifth place in Group B with 16-9 record. Loser Rivas Promete dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Distrito Olimpico will face league's leader C.Adelantados in San Cristobal in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rivas Promete will play at home against IF Air Europa (#13) and hope to win that game.
