Regular Season Round 26: Myrtia - Cartagena 88-86

Third-ranked Cartagena (5-8) gave a tough game to first ranked Myrtia (11-2) in Murcia on Saturday. Myrtia managed to secure only two-point victory 88-86. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cartagena. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cartagena won fourth quarter 25-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Myrtia looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was center Marcos Molina (202-90) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. American forward Eddie Delegal (201-94, college: Warner) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. Myrtia's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Alberto Ballesta (202-95) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Stephon Carter (193-91, college: CSU Bakersfield) added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Four Myrtia and five Cartagena players scored in double figures. Myrtia maintains first position in Group E Clasif with 11-2 record. Cartagena at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. They share the position with UCAM Murcia II. Myrtia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cartagena will play against Lliria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
