Regular Season Round 31: Challans - Caen 86-92

Leader Caen delivered the twenty fourth victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 8th ranked Vendee Challans (16-15) 92-86. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Vendee Challans. Caen looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American-Cape Verdean swingman BJ Monteiro (196-90, college: Duquesne) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Lithuanian forward Justas Sinica (203-85) helped adding 26 points. At the losing side Emmanuel Monceau (195-95) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American center Demarco Cox (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Caen maintains first place with 24-7 record. Loser Vendee Challans keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Caen will meet at home Rueil (#5) in the next round. Vendee Challans will play against UB Chartres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
