Matanzas nipped Pinar del Rio in overtime to secure the opening victory in the Finals. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 19-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 16-13. Guerreros dominated on the defensive end, holding Pinar to just 7 points in first quarter. They also forced 21 Pinar turnovers and outrebounded them 33-21 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Yuniskel Molina (185-93) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Danys Torrientes (190-85) contributed with 7 points and 5 steals for the winners. Guerreros' coach Jemmott Allen used entire bench in such tough game. The former international center Elieser Quintana (205-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) added 13 points, 6 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Pinar.
