Regular Season Round 24: Olympiacos - PAOK 84-59

A1 top team - Olympiacos (23-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed fifth ranked PAOK (13-11) in Athens 84-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of PAOK. The game was mostly controlled by Olympiacos. PAOK managed to win third quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded PAOK 35-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Serbian center Nikola Milutinov (212-94) who led his team to a victory with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Thomas Zevgaras (201-1) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Olympiacos players scored in double figures. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (201-90, college: Murray St.) replied with 14 points and 5 rebounds and Latvian swingman Zanis Peiners (203-90) added 11 points in the effort for PAOK. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 23-1 record, which they share with Panathinaikos. PAOK at the other side keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. Olympiacos is looking forward to face Promitheas (#8) in Patras in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PAOK will play at home against Koroivos and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
