Second Stage Round 6: Pelister Bitola - Vardar 77-70

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Pelister Bitola and 10th ranked Vardar had identical 1-3 record. This time Pelister Bitola used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Skopje 77-70. Vardar was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 22-11 third quarter run of Pelister Bitola. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Vardar's 24. It was a good game for American point guard Phil Hawkins (186-90, college: Texas St.) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Serbian forward Milos Andrejevic (198-89) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Pelister Bitola players scored in double figures. American-Nigerian guard Deji Ibitayo (193-93, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) replied with 20 points and 5 assists and Jetmir Zekjiri (200-96) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Vardar. Vardar's coach Gjorgi Kocov tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Pelister Bitola maintains ninth position in Liga with 2-3 record. Vardar at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom place with four games lost. Pelister Bitola will play against higher ranked Strumica (#7) in Strumica in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Vardar will play at home against Ohrid AV and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
