Very significant was Atleticos' (#5) 87-82 road victory against 7th ranked Vaqueros. Vaqueros were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 31-20 third quarter run of Atleticos. The winners were led by forward Benito Santiago (198-89, college: Cumberlands, agency: Paris Global Sports) who scored that evening 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 10 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists by Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Vaqueros. Naturalized Mexican guard Joseph Soto (190-93) added 23 points for lost side. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Atleticos maintains fifth position with 2-2 record, which they share with Humacao. Vaqueros at the other side keep the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Atleticos will play against league's leader Piratas in Quebradillas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Vaqueros will play on the road against Brujos (#10) in Guayama to get more than just one victory in their record.
