Second Stage Round 7: Vardar - Ohrid AV 86-78

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Ohrid AV (3-3) lost to bottom-ranked Vardar (2-4) in Skopje 78-86. The hosts were already 15 points ahead at halftime and as many as 17 after three quarters before a 34-25 last quarter charge of Ohrid AV cut the lead to 86-78 at the end of the game. Vardar forced 24 Ohrid AV turnovers. Ohrid AV was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American-Nigerian guard Deji Ibitayo (193-93, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Igor Ivanovic (-93) helped adding 22 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Vardar players scored in double figures. At the losing side Serbian guard Luka Milojevic (193-91) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American guard Devin Brooks (186-92, college: Creighton) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Vardar maintains tenth place in Liga with 2-4 record. Ohrid AV at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
