Regular Season Round 5: Arecibo - Ponce 86-88

Important game to mention about took place in Arecibo. Seventh ranked Leones (2-3) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Capitanes (2-2) 88-86 on Saturday evening. Capitanes cut a 13-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. It was a great shooting night for Leones especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Dominican Victor Liz (188-86, agency: Basket Management Solutions) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 6 rebounds. American power forward Hakim Warrick (206-82, college: Syracuse) contributed with 21 points for the winners. American forward Chane Behanan (198-92, college: Louisville) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Capitanes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leones moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Bayamon and San German. Defending champion Capitanes dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Leones will play against league's second-placed Piratas in Quebradillas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Capitanes will play on the road against Indios in Mayaguez and hope to get back on the winning track.
