There was no surprise when 6th ranked Matera (15-12) lost at home to third ranked San Severo (20-9) 78-73 on Saturday. Point guard Jordan Losi (182-80) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Iris Ikangi (200-94, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Alessandro Grande (185-94, agency: Two Points) answered with 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and point guard Gionata Zampolli (189-85) added 17 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in the effort for Matera. Four Matera players scored in double figures. San Severo maintains third place in B with 20-9 record having two points less than leader Montegrano, which they share with Cento. Loser Matera keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. San Severo will face Senigallia (#7) at home in the next round. Matera will play against the league's leader Montegrano in Montenegrano and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the Serie A2 just one year after relegation.
