Regular Season Round 28: Chalon - Le Portel 83-76

Very expected game when 8th ranked Le Portel (14-14) was defeated on the road by second ranked Chalon/Saor (21-7) 83-76. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Le Portel won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chalon/Saor players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by center Moustapha Fall (218-92) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 blocks and American point guard John Roberson (180-88, college: Texas Tech) supported him with 25 points and 5 assists. Even 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists by American center Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) did not help to save the game for Le Portel. Guard Benoit Mangin (191-88) added 14 points and 7 assists for lost side. Four Chalon/Saor and five Le Portel players scored in double figures. Chalon/Saor have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 21-7 record having four points less than leader Monaco. Le Portel at the other side keeps the eighth place with 14 games lost. Chalon/Saor's next round opponent will be JDA Dijon (#12) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Le Portel will play against Le Mans (#11) and hope to win that game.
