Regular Season Round 30: Canarios - Sonsonate 109-100

Rather predictable result in Ahuachapan where fifth ranked Canarios (12-6) beat 8th ranked Sonsonate (9-10) 109-100 on Friday. Canarios looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American point guard David Lawson (185-89, college: Reinhardt) had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 12 assists and 6 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Wali Hepburn (193-89, college: Lock Haven) chipped in 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Lawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Canarios' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American-Panamanian forward Adalberto Rojas (198-86) with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists and Yoan Haiti scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Canarios have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 12-6 record. Sonsonate lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Denver-FAS. Canarios will meet at home league's leader Santa Tecla in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sonsonate will have a break next round.
