Second Stage Round 13: Azovmash - Hoverla 79-92

Higher League top team - Hoverla (18-6) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat sixth ranked Azovmash (8-16) in Mariupol 92-79. The game was mostly controlled by Hoverla. Azovmash was better in fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Azovmash 37-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Hoverla looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for guard Oleksandr Shostuha (192-84) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Kyrylo Podkovyrov (180-96) contributed with 17 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Hoverla players scored in double figures. The former international guard Alexander Skutyelnik (192-77) answered with 27 points and 5 rebounds and center Dmitro Berozhkin (206-97, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 18 points in the effort for Azovmash. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Hoverla. They maintain first place with 18-6 record. Azovmash lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 16 games lost. Hoverla will face Krivbas-2 (#3) in Kryvyi Rih in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Azovmash will play on the road against BC-93 Pulsar in Rovno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
