Regular Season Round 6: Diamond VE - Bulleen B. 48-71

Date: April 22, 2017
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Greensborough where 9th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (1-5) were crushed by tenth ranked Boomers (1-4) 71-48 on Saturday. Boomers forced 26 Diamond Valley Eagles turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Lauren Pearce (181-83) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Kara Tessari chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Mikayla Pirini (169-96) who recorded 8 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and Amelia Smith added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Boomers left bottom position moving up to eighth place in League. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Boomers will face Venom (#10) in the next round. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against the league's leader Sunbury where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
