Very predictable result when fifth ranked Devils (4-2) rolled over bottom-ranked Stingrays (0-5) in Geelong 106-81 on Saturday. Devils looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Stingrays' players. American players dominated the game. Guard Jordan Hughes (192-92, college: Dakota St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Jeremy Smith (190, college: Nicholls St.) contributed with 21 points and 7 assists for the winners. Power forward Jordan Latham (206-91, college: Loyola, MD) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks and point guard Cam Baker (185, college: Columbus St.) added 21 points and 4 assists in the effort for Stingrays. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stingrays' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Despite that victory Devils went down to sixth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Stingrays still closes the standings with five games lost. Devils will face league's second-placed Eltham Wildcats at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Stingrays will play against Hume City Broncos (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
