No shocking result in a game when third ranked Maitland Mustangs (6-1) beat 8th ranked Newcastle Hunters (2-6) in Broadmeadow 73-64 on Saturday. Maitland Mustangs outrebounded Newcastle Hunters 53-31 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Tyler Monroe (201, college: Azusa Pacific) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds. Guard Joshua Clifford (196-88) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Jacob Foy replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Jakob Dorricott added 17 points in the effort for Newcastle Hunters. Newcastle Hunters' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Maitland Mustangs moved-up to second place in League. Loser Newcastle Hunters dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Maitland Mustangs will face Sutherland Sharks (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Newcastle Hunters will play against Crusaders and hope to win that game.
