Regular Season Round 9: Quebradillas - San German 97-74

The game between third ranked Piratas (5-2) and 7th ranked Atleticos (3-6) in Quebradillas ended with biggest points difference. Piratas outscored guests from San German 97-74. The game was mostly controlled by Piratas. Atleticos was better in second period 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Atleticos 46-27 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Piratas players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Atleticos' players. They brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international Michael Rosario (190-90, college: Florida) who scored 36 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. American guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Gary Browne (185-93, college: W.Virginia, agency: Inception Sports) who recorded 17 points and 8 assists and American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Piratas maintains third place with 5-2 record having five points less than leader Aguada. Atleticos at the other side keep the seventh position with six games lost. Piratas' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Caciques in Humacao and it will be for sure the game of the week. Atleticos will play against Fajardo (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
