Regular Season Round 13: Guaiqueries - Marinos 87-94

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Guaiqueries (14-10) against fourth ranked Marinos (9-11) on Monday night. Host Guaiqueries were defeated by Marinos in a tough game in Porlamar 87-94. Marinos made 23-of-29 charity shots (79.3 percent) during the game. American power forward Christophe Massie (206-77, college: Memphis) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and the former international Michael Carrera (196-93, college: S.Carolina) accounted for 24 points. The former international guard Michael Flores (192-85) came up with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international swingman Francisco Centeno (201-85) added 16 points respectively for Guaiqueries in the defeat. Five Marinos and four Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. Guaiqueries' coach Oscar Silva rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Marinos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 9-11 record. Guaiqueries lost third consecutive game. They still keep top position with ten games lost. Marinos will play against league's second-placed Trotamundos in Valencia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Guaiqueries will play on the road against the league's second-placed Bucaneros in La Guaira and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
