Regular Season Round 10: Aguada - Bayamon 77-75

Ninth-ranked Vaqueros (2-7) gave a tough game to first ranked Santeros (9-1) in Coamo on Tuesday. Santeros managed to secure only two-point victory 77-75. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 48-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Santeros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international forward Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: Sam Houston St., agency: Inception Sports) scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Santeros' coach Eddie Casiano used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side international swingman Alex Franklin (198-88, college: Siena) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and international point guard Javier Gonzalez (185-89, college: N.Carolina St.) scored 18 points and 5 assists. Santeros have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Vaqueros lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with seven games lost. Santeros are looking forward to face Fajardo (#5) in the next round. Vaqueros will play against Indios (#7) in Mayaguez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
