Geneve Lions outgunned Neuchatel to take 1-0 lead. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-70. American swingman Antonio Ballard (193-88, college: Miami, OH) stepped up and scored 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Chad Timberlake (194-84, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Ballard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Geneve Lions' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Serbian power forward Zoran Krstanovic (204-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Raimundas Danys (198-85, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
