Regular Season Round 9: Ipswich F. - Toowoomba M. 83-80

Undefeated Toowoomba Mountaineers (0-1) recorded its first loss in Booval on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by leader Ipswich Force (1-0) 83-80. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Ipswich Force outrebounded Toowoomba Mountaineers 48-37 including 33 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Kyle Harvey (196-91, college: Williams Baptist) who scored 25 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard James Legan (190-87, college: E.Carolina, agency: Court Side) chipped in 22 points and 9 rebounds. Harvey is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was Paul Aleer who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Jay Washington (183, college: William Jessup) added 16 points and 9 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ipswich Force left bottom position moving up to fourth place in League. Loser Toowoomba Mountaineers still closes the standings with one game lost. Ipswich Force will meet Rollers (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Toowoomba Mountaineers will play against Logan T. in Loganholme and hope to get finally their first victory.
