Regular Season Round 15: Ponce - San German 78-80

A very interesting game took place in Juana Diaz. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th placed Leones (7-7) to tenth ranked Atleticos (4-9) 80-78 on Friday evening. Leones were ahead by 7 points after three quarters before a 28-19 charge of Atleticos, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Isaac Sosa-Carrion (190-90, college: Canisius) who scored 30 points and 5 steals. The former international guard Gary Browne (185-93, college: W.Virginia, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Atleticos' coach Wilhelmus Caanen used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Haylett Sports) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Hakim Warrick (206-82, college: Syracuse) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Four Leones players scored in double figures. Atleticos moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Guayama. Leones lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Atleticos' next round opponent will be higher ranked Piratas (#4) in Quebradillas and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
