Villeneuve outgunned Lattes Montpellier on the road to open 1-0 advantage in the Finals. The game was mostly controlled by Villeneuve D'Ascq. Lattes Montpellier was better in third quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Lattes Montpellier 46-25 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Valerianne Ayayi (184-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International center Aby Gaye (195-95) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach Frederic Dusart allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international Sarah Michel (180-89) answered with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Renee Taylor (165-85, college: Miami, FL, agency: Two Points) added 18 points and 4 assists in the effort for Lattes Montpellier.
