Very expected game in Arrecife where 12th ranked Lanzarote (10-19) was defeated by fourth ranked La Roda (22-8) 94-82 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by La Roda. Lanzarote was better in fourth quarter 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. La Roda forced 19 Lanzarote turnovers. Strangely Lanzarote outrebounded La Roda 39-20 including a 19-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Arturo Fernandez (182-90) scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners and American guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Pamor Diene (208-98) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and forward Alejandro Viera (198-93) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. La Roda have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position in Group B with 22-8 record. Lanzarote lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth place with 19 games lost.
