Important game to mention about took place in Bayamon. Tenth ranked Vaqueros (5-9) saved a 3-point victory at home edging higher ranked Capitanes (6-8) 78-75 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 47-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Vaqueros looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for Mexican Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with 23 points. Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91, agency: Paris Global Sports) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Vaqueros' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and American center Cady Lalanne (208-92, college: Massachusetts) added 17 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Capitanes. Vaqueros moved-up to seventh place. Defending champion Capitanes keep the sixth position with eight games lost. Vaqueros will face Indios (#8) in Mayaguez in the next round.
