Regular Season Round 35: Antwerp - Oostende 90-80

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Oostende (29-6) on the court of second ranked Antwerp Giants on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Antwerp Giants 90-80. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Oostende. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Antwerp Giants forced 19 Oostende turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Oostende helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American guard Mike Smith (198-87, college: E.Tenn.St., agency: Inception Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 6 assists. His fellow American import guard Jason Clark (188-90, college: Georgetown) helped adding 19 points, 10 assists and 5 steals. International forward Pierre-Antoine Gillet (201-91) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and international forward Jean-Marc Mwema (195-89, agency: Court Side) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Antwerp Giants maintains second place with 22-13 record having seven points less than leader Oostende. Defending champion Oostende still keeps top position with six games lost. Antwerp Giants are looking forward to face Okapi Aalstar (#6) on the road in the next round. Oostende will play against Kangoeroes (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
