Regular Season Round 16: San German - Quebradillas 77-99

The game in San German supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Piratas (8-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Atleticos (5-10). Piratas smashed Atleticos 99-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Atleticos. It looked good early as Atleticos took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Piratas had a 31-17 second period charge getting the lead and Atleticos were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-99. Piratas dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Atleticos' 34. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Piratas brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by American guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky) who scored that evening 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Michael Rosario (190-90, college: Florida) supported him with 23 points. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Even 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists by American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) did not help to save the game for Atleticos. His fellow American import swingman Courtney Fells (196-86, college: N.Carolina St.) added 17 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Piratas moved-up to third place. Atleticos at the other side keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Piratas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Atleticos will play at home against the league's leader Santeros (#1) and hope to get back on the winning track.
