EWE Baskets fired past Bayreuth to gain 2-0 lead in the series. EWE Baskets shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by BBC Bayreuth's players. American center Brian Qvale (210-88, college: Montana) notched 19 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import guard Frantz Massenat (193-92, college: Drexel) supported him with 22 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). EWE Baskets' coach Mladen Drijencic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 25 points by American guard Joseph Lewis (188-92, college: Louisville) did not help to save the game for BBC Bayreuth. Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) added 14 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
