There was a minor upset in Humacao where 4th placed Caciques (8-8) were defeated by sixth ranked Capitanes (8-8) 95-90. Caciques were ahead by 14 points at the halftime before a 60-41 second half run of Capitanes. They made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) nailed 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and naturalized American forward Angel Matias (193-92, college: Georgia South) accounted for 25 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Naturalized American guard Wil Martinez (188-92, college: Fairmont St., agency: Paris Global Sports) came up with 27 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and international Alexander Galindo (200-85, college: FIU) added 19 points respectively for Caciques in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Humacao. Caciques lost third consecutive game. Capitanes' next round opponent will be Atleticos (#10) in San German which should be theoretically an easy game.
