Quarter-Finals Round 1: Toshiba BT - Hitachi SR 89-75

Toshiba Brave Thunders cruised past Hitachi SunRockers in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Hitachi Sunrockers was better in third quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Hitachi Sunrockers outrebounded Toshiba Thunders 41-24 including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds. International point guard Ryusei Shinoyama (178-88) contributed with 21 points (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winners. Five Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders' coach Takuya Kita used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) answered with 31 points and 7 rebounds and international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) added 12 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers.
