Rather expected game in Quebradillas where 6th ranked Vaqueros (8-11) were defeated by third ranked Piratas (9-5) 79-73 on Saturday. Vaqueros were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The former international center Jorge-Bryan Diaz (210-89, college: Nebraska) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American-Venezuelan Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) chipped in 21 points. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91, agency: Paris Global Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds and the former international guard Christian Dalmau (194-77, college: Daytona St. CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Piratas maintains third place with 9-5 record having eight points less than leader Aguada. Loser Vaqueros dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Piratas will meet Brujos (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vaqueros will play against Atleticos and hope to secure a win.
