The game was mostly controlled by Capitanes. Leones managed to win fourth quarter 26-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Capitanes shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. The former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) nailed 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) accounted for 26 points. American power forward Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Haylett Sports) came up with 24 points and 6 rebounds and the former international swingman Angel-Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for Leones in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 10-10 record. Loser Leones dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Capitanes will meet league's leader Santeros in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leones will play against Vaqueros (#5) in Bayamon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
