BSN top team - Santeros (16-4) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat ninth ranked Indios (7-11) in Mayaguez 92-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Indios. Santeros forced 19 Indios turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward David Laury (206-90, college: Iona) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and American-Dominican forward Jose Rodriguez (201-92, college: Texas Southern) added 18 points and 6 assists in the effort for Indios. Five Indios players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santeros maintains first position with 16-4 record. Indios at the other side dropped to the tenth place with 11 games lost. Santeros' next round opponent will be Vaqueros (#6) in Bayamon where they are favorite.
