Regular Season Round 9: U Latina - Escazu 56-81

Date: May 19, 2017
The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from San Jose: Escazu (#3) and U Latina (#6). U Latina was crushed at home by 25 points 56-81 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Escazu forced 23 U Latina turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by U Latina's players. The best player for the winners was international power forward Rohel Wilson (197-89) who scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Victor Arias chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Kevin Letford who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Andrew Mason (185-87) added 12 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Escazu maintains third place with 6-2 record having just two points less than leader ARBA. U Latina lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Escazu are looking forward to face U Costa Rica (#6) in the next round. U Latina will play against Abogados and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
