Very important is a home loss of third ranked Piratas (11-7) against tenth ranked Atleticos (8-13) on Friday night. Host Piratas were defeated by Atleticos in a tough game in Quebradillas 91-99. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 99-91. Atleticos made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The former international forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV, agency: Paris Global Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international guard Isaac Sosa-Carrion (190-90, college: Canisius) chipped in 24 points and 5 assists. American guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky) produced 28 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international center Jorge-Bryan Diaz (210-89, college: Nebraska) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Atleticos moved-up to ninth place. Loser Piratas keep the third position with seven games lost. Atleticos will meet higher ranked Capitanes (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Piratas will play against Leones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
