There was no surprise in Runcorn where bottom-ranked South West Metro Pirates (0-4) were defeated by leader Mackay Meteors (5-0) 102-91 on Sunday. Mackay Meteors dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to South West Metro Pirates' 38 and made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Mackay Meteors forced 19 South West Metro Pirates turnovers. South West Metro Pirates were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Lucas Walker (202-84, college: St.Mary's, CA) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and guard Shaun Bruce (190-91) chipped in 23 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. South West Metro Pirates will play against Toowoomba Mountaineers (#11) and hope to get finally their first victory.
