Leader Santeros delivered the eighteenth victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Caciques (9-15) 100-79 in Humacao. The game was mostly controlled by Santeros. Caciques was better in second period 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Caciques 47-29 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santeros players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. International Chris Gaston (201-89, college: Fordham) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points. Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Santeros players scored in double figures. Naturalized American guard Wil Martinez (188-92, college: Fairmont St., agency: Paris Global Sports) replied with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Mexican forward Joel Gierbolini (203-89, college: USC Aiken) added 13 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Caciques. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santeros maintains first position with 18-5 record. Caciques at the other side keep the ninth place with 15 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
