Regular Season Round 27: Ponce - Mayaguez 92-82

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Leones (11-13) beat 10th ranked Indios (7-15) in Juana Diaz 92-82 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Leones. Indios managed to win second period 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who led the winners and scored 31 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Carlos Emory (196-91) accounted for 24 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. American forward David Laury (206-90, college: Iona) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and American-Dominican forward Jose Rodriguez (201-92, college: Texas Southern) added 17 points respectively for Indios in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leones maintains fourth place with 11-13 record, which they share with Arecibo. Indios lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Leones will again meet Indios (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Indios will have a break next round.
