Regular Season Round 27: Arecibo - Quebradillas 84-100

An interesting game for Piratas (15-8) which played road game in Arecibo against 4th placed Capitanes (11-13). Third ranked Piratas had an easy win 100-84. The game was mostly controlled by Piratas. Capitanes was better in fourth quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Piratas shot 62.1 percent from the field. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. It was a great evening for the former international center Jorge Bryan Diaz (210-89, college: Nebraska) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international Michael Rosario (190-90, college: Florida) helped adding 21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Five Piratas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) with 24 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Coty Clarke (201-92, college: Arkansas, agency: BeoBasket) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Piratas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 15-8 record having just three points less than leader Aguada. Defending champion Capitanes keep the fourth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Ponce. Piratas will play against Brujos (#8) in Guayama in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Capitanes will play at home against Vaqueros (#7) and hope to get back on the winning track.
