Contagem beat Joinville in the opener. Contagem made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Joinville turnovers. Joinville was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Eric Romualdo (185-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and power forward Wesley Sena (210-96) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Contagem players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international Andre Pereira (206-79) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Felipe Vezaro (193-92, college: Texas A&M Int.) scored 12 points and 4 assists.
