Umana Venezia beat visiting Scandone Avellino to take 3-2 lead in the series. It looked good early as Scandone AV took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Umana Venezia had a 23-6 second period charge getting the lead and Scandone AV was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-78. Umana Venezia dominated on the defensive end, holding Scandone AV to just 6 points in second quarter. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Uruguayan-Spanish power forward Esteban Batista (208-83, agency: Duran International) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Croatian forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four Umana Venezia players scored in double figures. American-Liberian point guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) answered with 14 points and 5 assists and American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Scandone AV. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
