Regular Season Round 4: Caneros LR - Titanes Licey 77-66
Date: June 6, 2017
The most shocking disappointment of round 4 was a road defeat of 4th ranked Titanes Licey (2-3) to eighth ranked Caneros LR (1-4) 77-66. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 47-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Caneros LR made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Miguel Evangelista (-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks and American guard Ryan Scott (191-86, college: Johnson C. Smith) who added 11 points and 4 assists during the contest. Scott is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Caneros LR players scored in double figures. At the losing side naturalized Spanish power forward Edward Santana (203-80) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and American Jason Siggers (194-85, college: Albany) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caneros LR left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Reales LV. Titanes Licey at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Caneros LR is looking forward to face higher ranked Soles SD (#5) in Santo Domingo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Titanes Licey will play on the road against the league's leader Leones SD having rather not much hope for a victory.
