Obregon outgunned Mazatlan to secure 1-0 lead in the series. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon shot 64.8 percent from the field. Lobos UAD Mazatlan was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Michael Glover (203-87, college: Iona) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!). Swingman Glen Rice-Jr (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Forward Omar Thomas (196-82, college: UTEP) answered with 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and guard Jeff Ledbetter (190-88, college: Idaho) added 22 points and 4 assists in the effort for Lobos UAD Mazatlan. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures.
