Regular Season Round 30: Arecibo - Aguada 92-85

Eighth defeat of league's leader Santeros (18-8) against seventh ranked Capitanes (12-14) 92-85 was the most important game of the last round. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-85. Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for American forward Coty Clarke (201-92, college: Arkansas, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Capitanes players scored in double figures. Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: Sam Houston St., agency: Inception Sports) added 20 points in the effort for Santeros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Santeros lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the third place with eight games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Arecibo. Santeros will play next round against strong Fajardo trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Capitanes will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Fajardo on the road.
