Trento recorded the first victory in the championship series. They upset Umana Venezia on the road in the opener. Umana Venezia trailed by 17 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 24-15 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 74-83 at the end of the game. Strangely Umana Venezia outrebounded Dolomiti En. TR 41-26 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Danish guard Shavon Shields (201-94, college: Nebraska) fired 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Dustin Hogue (198-92, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Dolomiti En. TR players scored in double figures. Croatian forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85) produced 19 points and American-Georgian point guard Marquez Haynes (191-86, college: Texas Arlington) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Umana Venezia's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.
