Leader Santeros delivered the nineteenth victory on Tuesday night. This time they beat 10th ranked Caciques (9-18) 77-71 in Humacao. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 23-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Santeros dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Caciques' 38. They outrebounded Caciques 53-40 including 19 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international forward Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: Sam Houston St., agency: Inception Sports) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds and Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) who added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. International forward William Orozco (201-85, agency: Paris Global Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and the former international center Peter Ramos (222-85) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Caciques players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santeros maintains first position with 19-9 record. Caciques lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 18 games lost. Santeros will meet at home Leones (#4) in the next round. Caciques will play against Indios (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
