Very important is a home loss of second ranked Fajardo (18-10) against seventh ranked Vaqueros (13-18) on Wednesday night. Host Fajardo was defeated by Vaqueros in 96-84. The game was mostly controlled by Vaqueros. Fajardo managed to win fourth quarter 36-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Fajardo to just 5 points in first quarter. Vaqueros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks for the winning side and international Alexander Galindo (200-85, college: FIU) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Miguel-Ali Berdiel (198-83, college: Valparaiso) came up with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international Elias Ayuso (190-77, college: USC, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 16 points respectively for Fajardo in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vaqueros maintains seventh place with 13-18 record. Loser Fajardo keeps the second position with ten games lost. Vaqueros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fajardo will play against Brujos and hope to secure a win.
