Regular Season Round 14: Ipswich F. - Brisbane S. 71-86

Date: June 16, 2017
Very expected game when 10th ranked Force (3-6) lost to top-ranked Brisbane Spartans (9-0) in Booval 71-86 on Friday. Brisbane Spartans made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Brisbane Spartans especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Guard Ashleigh Karaitiana (183-92, college: Hawaii) orchestrated the victory by scoring 36 points (!!!) (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). New Zealand forward Kalani Purcell (188-95, college: BYU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American forward Markel Walker (185-90, college: UCLA) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and her fellow American import forward Shenita Landry (188-87, college: Temple) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Force. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Brisbane Spartans went down to second position (League) due to points difference. Loser Force keeps the tenth place with six games lost. Brisbane Spartans will face Clippers (#12) in Cotton Tree in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Force will play against SC Rip and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
