Regular Season Round 7: Soles SD - Metros STGO 91-93

Seventh-ranked Soles SD (2-6) gave a tough game to first ranked Metros STGO (7-2) in Santo Domingo. The visitors from Santiago managed to secure only two-point victory 93-91. However their fans expected much easier game. Soles SD was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 29-24 charge of Metros STGO, which allowed them to win the game. Soles SD was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American Robert Glenn (203-89, college: IUPUI) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW) accounted for 23 points for the winning side. Power forward Manuel Guzman (204-82, college: Bemidji St.) came up with 27 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Bahamas guard Michael Carey-Jr (196-93, college: Wagner) added 22 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Soles SD in the defeat. Five Metros STGO and four Soles SD players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Metros STGO have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-2 record. Soles SD lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. They share it with Reales LV. Metros STGO will play against Caneros LR (#4) in La Romana in the next round. Soles SD will play at home against the league's second-placed Indios SFM (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
